Lion of Judah Speaks: Haftorah Portion – Amos 9:7-15

Let me focus on Amos 9:11-12 that says, “On that day, I will raise up the fallen Tabernacle of David, and I will close up their breaches, and I will raise up its ruins, and build it up as in the days of old, that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations who are called by My name, declares Adonai who does this.” Look at what Adonai is promising and what a power promise to his people. He is going to raise up and repair and rebuild His people. He is their redeemer, always has been and always will be! This is a picture of not only Israel but all of us who are broken and in need of repair. Adonai repairs us! He takes that which is torn down and makes it anew. Halleluyah!

As we look at the brokenness of our lives and this world, the situations and challenges in our lives that seem to be unrepairable, we say to ourselves…” this is impossible to fix!”. But know this…there is one who can do it! Elohim is the repairer of the breach, our redeemer, our rebuilder. He is able to take that which our adversary intended for evil and turn it for good. That is our Elohim! He is able! He is faithful! He is our redeemer!

The plan of Elohim is not only to repair His people but the nations who are called by His name. He is not only repairing the Hebrew people and calling them to Yeshua but the Gentiles are returning to the ancient paths and following Yeshua in the Biblical standard of obedience. He is showing Himself in these last days and repairing those who want to be repaired. Ya’ akov quotes from Amos 9:11-12 in Acts 15:16-18 saying, “After this, I will return; and I will rebuild the fallen tent of David. I will rebuild its ruins, and I will restore it, so that the rest of mankind may seek Adonai, that is, all the Goyim who have been called by My name,” says Adonai, who is doing these things’

This rebuilding of the fallen tent of David, what is it? This restoration of the “Tabernacle of David” is as relevant today as it was in the days of the prophet Amos and in the times of the Apostles in Acts 15. This restoration is another prophecy being fulfilled. It is Jew and Gentile together under the banner of Messiah Yeshua. It is the power of the Ruach HaKodesh accelerating the joining of Jewish and Gentile believers into one new man to worship Elohim together. Gentiles are returning to His Torah and the Jewish people are returning and accepting Yeshua as Messiah. This is happening in the Tent of David; the restoration of intimacy, prophetic praise and worship, fellowship, surrendering to His will, following the whole council of Elohim and taking back what the enemy has stolen and broken down that only Elohim can repair.

There are powerful features of David’s Tent that is part of this repair. In King David’s life, kingship and worship were all prophetic; all pointed to the life and ministry of Yeshua our Messiah. In David’s Tabernacle, the Psalmist were called and appointed to prophesy on their instruments. He resigned from the place of Elohim’s Presence and Glory. We see that all government affairs were influenced by the “open heaven” created by continual worship. Yeshua sits upon the throne of David, which is in heaven amidst 24/7 worship. Can you imagine if we would allow our government, kehillahs, our homes, and lives to be the shoulders of Yeshua? His Kingly authority would be released in our midst.

In David’s Tent he installed worship choirs or teams in rosters that never stopped praising Elohim. Today we have worship warriors to minister to Adonai in a similar way but we need more! We need to allow the use of prophetic psalmist, singers, shofars, intercessors, banners, tambourines, and dance. The atmosphere of His Shekinah must be maintained instead of this “Hollywood” type of demonstration.

David’s Tabernacle was a tent set up in Jerusalem and it contained only the Ark, representing the Presence and Glory of Yah. This was a prophetic sign of Yeshua’ coming to earth to “tabernacle” or dwell in the midst of His people. The ultimate fulfillment is intimacy with Adonai in His Throne room in heaven. In Hebrews 10:19, the writer says, “So, brothers, we have confidence to use the way into the Holiest Place opened by the blood of Yeshua.” He has made a way for all people to have intimacy with Him not just a privileged few.

David, as we know, was an extravagant worshipper who danced and played his harp before Elohim without fear of man. David’s liberty is a picture of true liberty that is only found when we worship Him in “spirit and in truth”. He was not held back by manmade restraints, time and embarrassment. He was all in as we should be, never moved by people but moved by the Presence of His Glory. This Tabernacle should be a place for all mankind to come and seek Him and truly find Him. It should be a place for the end-time harvest. This is a place where the Bride comes to prepare herself for the return of Yeshua. The place where the Bride makes herself ready and prepares the way of Adonai.

The Bride in His Presence becomes a glorious Bride without spot or wrinkle because she adorns herself with holiness. It is by the blood of Yeshua and the work of the Ruach that allows her to walk in righteousness following His Word. We are not saved by works but faith without works is dead. What is meant by Yeshua’s words when He said that the Father desired us to worship in spirit and in truth? How can we worship in spirit? How can we worship in truth? To worship “in spirit” is to allow the Ruach to move upon our redeemed spirit, causing love, adoration, devotion, honor, and respect to ascend to Elohim. The believer is born again in his spirit by the Ruach HaKodesh. His spirit is to be in union with the Ruach of Yah. As the Ruach moves upon our redeemed spirit then our worship “in spirit” ascends to Yah who is Ruach. To worship “in truth” is to worship according to the Word of Elohim. Yeshua said, “Sanctify them through Thy Truth; the Word is Truth (John 17:17). The Word of Elohim is the Scripture of Truth. We need to follow His Word no matter the cost. We need both the Ruach and Truth in true Biblical worship. By the ministry of the Ruach and the Word order was brought out of chaos, light out of darkness, form out of disorder (Gen. 1:1-5). Therefore, Divine worship is dependent upon the Ruach and the Word operating in the midst of the worshipping congregation.

The Tabernacle of David is not a new teaching, we see it in II Sam.6:17, Isa. 16:5, Amos 9:11-12, Acts 7:45-47, and Acts 15:16-17. We know it is a “dwelling place” for Elohim. The Tabernacle of David, as to both Kingdom and worship, finds fulfillment in Yeshua and His Body.

Allow me to make one last point. Before the Tent of David was erected and the Ark was brought into this Tabernacle—there was great preparation. In I Chron. 15:1,3,12 notice that David prepared a place for the Ark of Yah. It was not a haphazard thing. There was a definite preparation of a place for the Presence of Yah to dwell. We read from the Scriptures that Elohim desired a place where He could dwell with His people and where His name could be recorded. Are you “that place”, is our Kehillah “that place”, are our homes, “that place”? Have we created a place where His Ruach feels welcome? Have we created a place where praise and worship flow freely and prophetically? Have we created a place where Ruach and Truth bring us Divine revelation and power? If we desire to see the restoration of the Presence of Adonai—our Ark—then we must be in unity of purpose and a true gathering together with Him. Come and let us worship Him—our Messiah Yeshua in Ruach and Truth!
